Crocheting

I took up crocheting last summer when the doctor put me on bed-rest.  I was not looking forward to staying home, laying on the couch all day and staring at the walls, so the idea presented itself.  Months before, I browsed through the web and saw so many blogs dedicated to crocheting.  Women from all over the globe, just like me, who enjoyed sewing and crocheting had blogs.  They shared their patterns and tutorials and their immense love for the craft.  Instantly, I was inspired, but I had to put off seriously getting my hands into it, so to speak, because of work and my busy schedule.  Mind you, at the time I was working twelve hour shifts, working the night shift and any spare time I had I spent cleaning the house or sleeping.  At the first opportunity that presented itself, I took it and ran with it.  What really captured my attention was the gorgeous colors of the yarn.  I was a novice, so I bought inexpensive yarn to practice my new hobby.  I have to say that it was love-at-first-stitch.  I bought a couple of crocheting books from Amazon and tried several projects.  It was exhilarating.  I could feel my pulse quickening.  It felt just like love.  So, even after having my baby and returning to work, I continued my new craft.  This past week I bought my first set of expensive Debbie Bliss cashmerino yarn.  Mind you, I'm still all knew to this and still have to look up basic stitches, but I figured it's time to make a baby granny blanket for Mac.  This will be my first big project.  I can barely contain my excitement at the prospect of starting it.  The yarns are due to arrive on Tuesday, Valentine's Day.  What a perfect gift.  By the way, my inspiration came from Attic24 and several other bloggers.  I find it so amazing that there are women out there who share my love for my hobbies.
